Our People

We are a small, friendly practice, which believes in providing good quality service at a reasonable cost.

We think our approach is what clients want most and is the reason that most of our clients have been with us for a long time. Leonards has three Solicitors, David Lingard, Ann-Marie Chalmers and Eamonn Devanney. You can find out a bit more about each below.

David Lingard

David Lingard

David qualified as a Solicitor in 1977 and has been a Partner at Leonards for twenty four years. He deals with Domestic and Commercial Property, Liquor Licensing, Wills and Estates.

David is a former member of the Council of the Law Society of Scotland and is Legal Adviser to a number of local voluntary and commercial organisations including Lanarkshire Enterprise Services Limited and Hamilton Taxi Owners’ Association.

Ann-Marie Chalmers

Ann-Marie Chalmers

Ann-Marie qualified as a solicitor in 1993. She is in charge of the Court Department undertaking a variety of civil litigation and also criminal cases. Ann-Marie has experience in pursuing and defending cases on behalf of individual clients and local businesses including limited companies. She is also appointed by the court to represent the interests of children and prepare reports in disputed family cases. Ann-Marie is a member of the Family Law Association of Scotland and an Honorary member of the Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association.

Before she took up the post of associate at Leonards in 2005 Ann-Marie worked in a firm for 8 years in Glasgow as an Associate and prior to that in a firm in Coatbridge.

Eamonn Devanney

Eamonn Devanney

Eamonn qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and is an associate with the firm. He has been with Leonards since April 2007. Eamonn deals with domestic and commercial property and liquor licensing. He has gained considerable experience in these areas having worked with a large Glasgow firm between 1999 and 2007. Eamonn has a broad client base and in the context of commercial property transactions has previously acted on behalf of charities, builders/developers, housing associations, childcare providers, PLC’s, and educational institutes to name but a few.

He takes great pride in keeping clients up to date as to how matters are proceeding with their transaction. He also prefers to speak to his clients in layman’s terms rather than hide behind legal jargon.

In addition to our three solicitors, Leonards also has two Paralegals, Anne Reidford and Eleanor Webb and eight experienced support staff.
